Have you ever wondered why from the day Daniel came to Babylon, even after the siege that the Medes and Persians took over, Daniel was relevant?
How come no matter what, every king that ruled had cause to seek Daniel?
What made this Hebrew man so indispensable?
Dear child of God, if you need to be relevant in this generation of "trend and pass" you NEED to study the life of Daniel very closely.
Thankfully, God has made the work easier because he has asked me to write about my lessons from the book of Daniel chapter 1-6. Please follow this with your Bible and a heart willing to learn, as lessons will be learnt from the throne of grace😊.
NOW LETS BEGIN ‼️
Almost everyone who talks about this exceptional Hebrew only scratches the surface of his walk with God and his devotion to his creator in a strange land. The Lions den and refusing to eat the Kings delicacies; that's really all we know but by God's own power of revelation, my eyes have been opened to some more things about a Hebrew that was indispensable in every Royal cabinet while his people were in captivity.
From chapter one, we are made to see some qualities Daniel possessed and I will start with leadership.
It is obvious he was the spokesman of the group that decided to honour their God even by the meals they ate and so many people are missing out on what God has for them and how they can serve God because they're steady shying away from Leadership responsibilities. Daniel was ready to be held responsible should his crazy idea fail but the keeper of Israel who neither sleeps nor slumbers was with them so Daniel and his friends turned out better than they expected. Not only did this fetch them favour and upliftment but by accepting that leadership role of spokesmanship (if there's a word like that), Daniel set himself up for greater heights without even knowing.
This brings me to one of the major points in this article; Daniel sought the Lord EARLY! A lot of us these days are all about enjoying our youth then serving God when we are cranky and have to be led by the hand but we fail to realise that servitude to God is best when we have the strength and vigour for it.
Our Lord Jesus knew this and that's why in John 9:4 (NKJV) he said "I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; the night comes when no man can work". Nothing beats serving God when you can in all capacities and although I am tempted to add that the Bible said those that seek the Lord early shall find him (oops😂 I did add it), seeking the Lord early is a sure way to stay on the right path and remain relevant.
I'd like to chip in that Daniel is someone who put God in the spotlight constantly in his life. He was "that Christian guy" that no matter the compliment and praise, all the praises would still return to the maker. It was impossible to know him and not know his God! Let's look at Daniel 6:20 the famous incident of the Lions den.
"And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve CONTINUALLY, been able to deliver you from the lions?” (NKJV)
Take note of the words in capital letters "CONTINUALLY" because we'd get back to it real soon.
King after king came and Daniel by his life style and by doing the extraordinary, set himself apart. Imagine being able to tell someone their exact dreams and still give them the interpretation as was the case with Nebuchadnezzar, but Daniel didn't cash in on the mercy of God to become a self acclaimed seer of dreams and visions or a prophet people had to pay Fortunes to see so he could tell them about their future (as is rampant in the world today). Instead he gave Godly counsel and led everything back to God hence preaching about his God and utilizing any opportunity that presented itself to put God in the spotlight.
Now let me give you a glimpse of what putting God in the spotlight is and how it can help you. Think of a mother (God) and a child (you). You know the way kids are always clingy to their mummies so this child clings to the back of his/her mummy's dress. A bunch of reporters come around to see the mum and then the mother brings the child to the spotlight also.
By hiding behind its mother (we are supposed to walk with God before us) and putting it's mother first, the mother still shows her child off to the world (Got this explanation from my mum😊❤️) and that brings me to Daniel being aware that only the mercy of God can help a man.
